The Doctoral Student Council

The Doctoral Student Council (DoR) is a council within the Sahlgrenska Academy Students’ Union (SAKS) which works to improve the situation of doctoral students at the Sahlgrenska Academy. The council is made up of representatives from the departments within the Sahlgrenska Academy. Anyone who wants to can join DoR and help to work towards a better future for doctoral students at the Sahlgrenska Academy. Do not hesitate to contact us at dor@saks.gu.se!

The work of DoR

Picture from the Sahlgrenska Academy Photo: Göteborg UniversityOne of the ways in which DoR works to influence the situation of doctoral students is by having representatives on the councils dealing with research education, such as the Council for Research Education Issues (FUR), the Council for Research Issues (FOR) and the Sahlgrenska Academy Board. DoR also has representatives on the University of Gothenburg’s Doctoral Students Committee (GUDK), the Research Education Committee (FUK) and the departmental boards within the Sahlgrenska Academy. This enables us to get involved and have an influence on a broad front.

DoR has worked for issues such as the employment of doctoral students from day one, and for all doctoral students to have the opportunity for teaching as part of their research education. These issues have been dealt with by both FUR and the Academy Board.

If you are interested in working on issues that affect us doctoral students, please do not hesitate to get in touch. The easiest way to contact us is by e-mailing dor@saks.gu.se.

As compensation for the work that we carry out at DoR, each member is granted an extension of their doctoral appointment. So get in touch – you have nothing to lose!
